Did you know AMC Theatre has Sensory Friendly Films?

Updated: Sep 28, 2023

AMC Theatre offers Sensory Friendly Films for people with autism or other special needs. During these unique showings, the lights are turned up, and the sound is turned down so everyone can feel free to be themselves.

This is particularly important because autistic individuals can have heightened or diminished sensitivity to various stimuli, including bright lights or particular light wavelengths. It is common for autistic individuals to experience a combination of these sensitivities.

The Sensory Friendly Film program is available every month on the second and fourth Saturday for family-friendly showings and on Wednesday evenings for mature audiences. It's important to note that some children may be drawn to bright colors, while others may struggle with sunlight or glare. Therefore, it's essential to be understanding and provide a comfortable environment for all children.

Please check your local theatre listings to find out when and where these showings are playing near you. AMC Theatre has recently moved to a two-tiered program: 100 locations will continue to play all four showings each month, and 75 locations will play the 2 Saturday showings each month.
